Tonight
we'll discuss the topic “Exploring your
Mind”.
A
geologist, an artist, and a farmer might look at a rocky mountain, but their
eyes would see three different things.
Now,
put yourself into one of those personalities and tell me what you see out of the
rocky mountain?
The
geologist would be thrilled and be curious to know the history of their
formation.
The
artist would be moved by colors and the grandeur of the magnificent silhouette.
The
farmer might grumble, "I can't grow any crop up there!" . But the
farmer forgot that, it's a great opportunity for him to sharpen his blunt
tools.
“You can't
explore if you don't have anything in Mind”
When
you hear the term Mind, what does it
mean to you?
What's
the meaning of the word Mind?
Sir William Hamilton
defined the mind as ;
“That which perceives, thinks,
feels, will and desire”
Every
level of our mind has two parts. The
will and the understanding
The will can be thought of as the home of
our affection and emotions, but it also includes all of the impulses that
drives us. The will is the part of our mind that desire things or that urges us
to do something because it feels good. Those instincts are automatic responses
over which we have no control.
Our understanding or intellect as the name
implies is the part of our mind that processes information and develop new
ideas. Whereas Will can be largely subconscious, the understanding is our
conscious mind at work. It's the part of our mind that not only thinks but
imagines outcomes, either positive or negative
Having established this fact, how can we
explore our mind?
Exploring
those great ideas on our mind includes 3 steps.
1)
Being Conscious — Consciousness is the power, faculty or mental state of being
aware of one's own existence, condition at the moment, thoughts, feelings and
actions.
Until
we become conscious of our personality, until we become conscious that we can
make it, until we become conscious of what our mind says— we won't be able to
explore.
2)
Paying attention— Attention is focusing on consciousness and receptivity of
things that comes from the mind.
What
are those things on your mind that you need to pay attention to?
Ideas
flow in daily, but we're too busy chasing shadows instead of paying attention
to those things our mind tells us.
Most
people want to be like their fellow, neglecting the fact that to make it and
succeed in life, you must be yourself and pay attention to that thing that do
come to your mind
3)
Action! Action! Action!
How
many times have you actually act upon those things coming to your mind. Remember
that your body doesn't define you what defines you is your mind. The mind
defines your personality. Why not take action on that thing your mind is always
disturbing you to do.
Exploring
our mind means experimenting or testing that which you perceive, think, feel,
will and desire. Once you're willing to explore those great ideas coming to
your mind No mountain will be too high for you to climb, no river will be too
deep for you to dive in, no risk will be too tough for you to take.
