Tonight
we'll be discussing a very crucial topic “Making
the most of Your time”
Firstly
let’s talk about time:
Time
is the most valuable resource/ possession one can have, time is a significant
factor, it is a factor that one should always be conscious of. Time is a
continuous progress of existence and
events that occur in irreversible succession.
“Time
is life, life is time...”
Whatever
you do with your time determines your how and what your life would turn out to be.
Time is a gift, and we are expected to make the most of it.
Now
the question is how can we make the most of our time?
One
way to make the most of our time is to go
beyond spending time to investing time
There
are clear differences between the two. To spend means to use up or exhaust
something, you are not really doing it with an intention of getting something
out of it or get something back.
Those who spend time are people who wake up
without a plan, they just do anything that comes their way, they don't have a
foresight, they live life the way it goes, most times ,they end up doing
intangible things with their time.
When
you invest in something you expend resources, but you do so with an expectation
of getting a good return on your investment, investing your time means that you
engage in activities which are calculated to bring you meaningful rewards. People
who invest time are those who plan their lives well, people who seek to do
tangible things with their time, people who don't just do things that comes
their way but do things as planned, people with foresight, people who are in
charge of their time, people who do not live life the way it goes but live life
the way it ought to be. People who invest time
are people with focus, people who are determined ,people who will end up
having a good and bright future, they are people who can't be irrelevant,
people who can't be useless, people who are highly esteemed, people who are
distinct in all they do.
Have
you ever asked; how did that person get so much done? how was she able to achieve
this and that? The answer is not farfetched
“You
are a product of what you do with your time”.
Take
a Look at yourself, search thoroughly within and without, look at where you're
coming from, where you are and where you're going... There are somethings you
should have achieved ,some heights you should have attained by now but because you failed to do the
needful by making good use of your time and making your day count.
“Your
success or failure is dependent on what you do with your time”.
Success and failure has its root in
how well we use our time.
While
growing up, I wasted time on things that are not worth it, back then I always
major on the minors, It affected me in all aspects, I began to deteriorate in
all areas failure became my partner Thank God I was able to realise early
enough to make necessary adjustments.
Another
way to make the most of our time is to Run
our day
To
run your day ,you have to stay in charge, have written sets of goals ,
prioritize your goals, separate majors from minors, learn to say and learn to
say No to distractions.
“Never
allow your day to run you; otherwise you may end up ruined”.
A
time spender is a diseased person, (what are these diseases?) They are
laziness, procrastination, distractions, non challant attitude etc... These diseases has rubbed many of greatness,
it has wasted destinies and lives. They are silent killers. These diseases can
be diagnosed in people who spend time
Diseases
are in stages, at first it may not be chronic but overtime when its not
treated, it'll you eat you up, destroy one, render one useless and even lead to
death.
The
Stages of are;
Accumulation
- this is when you allow little things to take your time, when you accumulate
the minors and irrelevant things
Aggravation - those things begin to go beyond normal, they
began to eat you up gradually
Dissemination - this is when it begins to affect you in all
aspects of life at this point it not still obvious
Localization - when you began to experience them gradually
Manifestation - in this stage ,it began to manifest in full
force, clearly identifiable form
Chronicity - at this stage, it has gotten so much into you, it
may eventually lead to death. Not just physical but death in all aspects.
These
are the stages of diseases associated with people who are time spenders The
earlier the stage that the disorder can be diagnosed, the easier it is to
reverse the underlying imbalance," This diseases are communicable, you can
easily get infected when you associate yourself with people who do no not value
time, people who do not invest but spends time.
They
are preventable and curable as well, preventing it is doing all you can to do
away with things that will hinder you from investing your time. And if already
infected, stop spending time, start investing time.
Making the most of your time is
making the most of your life; you are a product of what you do with your time.
Sit
up and set goals for yourself, do all you can to achieve them, associate
yourself with people who will help you achieve your goals, prioritize them
and most importantly discipline
yourself, do away with distractions; distractions could be anything or anyone,
but whatever it is ,Always learn to say NO, Stop procrastinating, do all you
need to do on time, View each day as an important gift ,embrace each day and
discover the potential that it holds, your day should not just come and go,
always make progress. We've been given each day to live and we're expected to
make it productive.
Stop spending time, start investing
time!!!
In conclusion, when you
spend your time, it’s gone. But when you invest your time you get a positive
return. Time is your most valuable resource, Start thinking of ways in which
you use your time as an investment. Then, get to work on making wise
investments.
